Since 2008, Pet Play Place has offered dog training programs that produce results.  We believe to our core that a trained dog is a happy dog.  The reason for this is that dogs have to learn how to live in the human world.  In the canine world, it is OK to run with all your might whenever you get the urge because their behavior is based on instinct.  In the human world, it is not OK to run with all your might whenever the urge arises, because in doing so you may knock down and injure your owner who is holding on to the other end of the leash.  Dogs in the wild don’t need training on how to be a dog, but a dog that is living with humans needs to be trained on how to be a dog in the human world.

Dogs are extremely intelligent and with that intelligence comes a need to be challenged and stimulated.  Consistent training not only minimizes behavior that humans deem as undesirable, but also engages your dog to focus and unlock their God given potential.

Board and Train Boot Camp – 2-week program

Our Board and Train program is a two-week doggie “boot camp”, where your dog will engage with a personal trainer on basic obedience commands.   Your personal trainer will work with your dog based on your dog’s personality and innate drive.  At the completion of the two-week program, the dog and owner are reunited during a two-hour training and debriefing session.  Here the owner will learn everything their dog has accomplished over the two weeks and how to replicate the demonstrated success at home.

The key to dog training is consistency.  All board and train program members return for a follow visit with the trainer to review what home life is now like with their newly trained canine friend and to troubleshoot any problem areas that arise.  We encourage our board and train graduates to continue in their training journey and participate in our other programs.  In enrolling your dog in our board and train program, you gain a committed, long-term resource in your Pet Play Place trainer.

Other Training Options:

Pet Play Place will soon offer a wide variety of training options for all of our daycare and boarding members.  Programs include group training classes (beginner, intermediate and advanced) and private training sessions with a personal trainer.
